The course textbook is: Barkley, Elizabeth F[2] . (2010). Student Engagement Techniques A Handbook for College Faculty. San Francisco, CA: John Wiley & Son. This book is also available on-line through the Vancouver City College Library and can be accessed by this link . To read this textbook enter your VCC library account number and password.

Barkley has authored another book [3] that compliments the themes of our Learning Community Wiki. This learning experience transforms and challenges students to read course material, take on new educational and technology and assignments. This wiki assignment process reinforces Barkley's emphasis on the value of: orienting students; forming groups; structuring the learning task; facilitating student collaboration; grading; and evaluating collaborative learning.
